@Adweek is dumber than a box of rocks
This article in Adweek is making me shake my head at the obliviousness of people: Glee Turnout Casts Shadow on Oxygen Project
It reads like those articles claiming people don’t show up for female actions stars; it completely ignores any facts or considerations that don’t support it’s premise.
Saturday was the end of the world people! I don’t know how it was were the Adweek people are, but here, the weather was intermittently rainy but overall, pretty nice. People were out and about. There were things to do on Saturday that didn’t involve sitting in front of the TV for hours on end!
And did Oxygen advertise their marathon at all? I’d seen ads for the Glee Project but didn’t see a single ad for their marathon prior to Saturday. And hello second marathon. Of course the ratings were significantly lower.
For the most part, TV (including movies and shows on DVR or DVD) is background noise while I’m doing something else like hanging out with friends, cooking, cleaning, knitting. Actually, I rarely just consume media unless I’m reading a book or listening to music, and even that’s mostly during my commute.
This Saturday was no exception. Before cleaning my apartment, I flipped through the channels looking for something to put on. Finding a string of Glee episodes delighted me. (I assume it was on Oxygen but I didn’t check. Could there have been more than one Glee marathon this past weekend?) With my DVD player busted, I was glad to have something to put on that would last a few hours, didn’t require my attention, but that would be fun (and I could follow) when and if I stopped what I was doing long enough to watch.
Bottomline: If you’re not going to advertise it, Oxygen, then don’t whine about what ratings you get.

I don’t really feel the need to sing this right now, but I know I’ve thought similar things in the bast.

“You’re Dead And That’s Hot” and “Fine, We’ll Do It In My Spaceship Tower” are funny but my favorite has to be, “Honey, My Water Just Broke.”
Barak Obama says buy chocolate?
Barak Obama tweeted: “As we cut what we can afford to do without, we have a responsibility to invest in areas that will have the biggest impact on our future.” (~1 PM ET 02/14/2011)
What is the purpose of posting that line on Valentine’s Day, this Hallmark (and flower sellers’) holiday that claims to celebrate love less and is fueled by disposable income? Is he advocating buying chocolate and flowers, but only if you’re really sure the object of your affections will “be yours”?
